As a QA Engineer in NIQ Activate, you will play a vital role within the R&D team, ensuring that all software delivered to clients is stable, high-quality, and bug-free. Using strong analytical skills, manual testing techniques, and QA best practices, you will validate product functionality across environments, identify and report defects, verify fixes, and help improve overall release quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze system requirements, acceptance criteria, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with QA Engineers, Developers, and Product Owners to define effective test strategies and test plans.
- Execute manual functional, regression, and exploratory testing across multiple environments.
- Maintain and execute test cases in Zephyr, ensuring proper traceability to user stories in Jira.
- Perform sanity and smoke testing post-deployment and ensure timely validation of releases.
- Verify API responses and integrations using tools like Postman, ensuring backend–frontend consistency.
- Identify, log, and retest defects with clear steps to reproduce, screenshots, and evidence.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives).
- Collaborate closely with the development team during defect triage and root cause discussions.
- Support QA metrics tracking such as defect leakage, coverage, and test execution progress.
- Continuously improve QA documentation, test design, and processes for higher efficiency.
Required Skills
- 3 to 10 years of proven experience in manual testing as a QA Engineer or similar role.
- Experience testing production-level products in an Agile environment.
- Master’s/ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of QA methodologies, defect life cycle, and Agile frameworks.
- Ability to write and execute SQL queries to validate data accuracy.
- Strong skills in test documentation, troubleshooting, and bug reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical mindset.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Agile frameworks (Scrum/SAFe) and regression testing cycles.
- Experience with Jira, Zephyr Scale, and Confluence for test and documentation management.
- Hands-on exposure to Postman, Jenkins, or other CI/CD tools.
- Understanding of Gherkin BDD language or test case design using Given–When–Then.
- Basic understanding of cloud environments (Azure, AWS) or API-based testing.
- Knowledge of test data management and environment validation processes.
