Eits is a software company that provides and supports billing, customer-care and transaction-management solutions for the telecoms and financial-services industries. Eits traces its origins back to the establishment of Eits Corp. in 1990, which was set up to develop a customer-care and billing solution for the Indian Department of Telecommunications. The first version of SunTec`s core TBMS platform was launched in 1995, and in 1999 Eits Corp. split into two companies, Eits (formed to develop and distribute the company`s software products for the international market) and Eits Infosystems (a systems integrator, wholly owned by Eits , dealing with the integration of SunTec`s products in the Indian subcontinent). TBMS, which has been re-designed around an open, modular architecture and expanded into two application suites for the financial and telecoms sectors (TBMS-F and TBMS-T respectively), remains the cornerstone of SunTec`s product and service offering.

Although India is still the company`s most important market (where its clients include BSNL, MTNL and VSNL), Eits has secured contract wins with several service providers in the Asia Pacific region, EMEA and the USA, including Bakrie Telecom in Indonesia; Bahrain Telecom; Essent Kabelcom in the Netherlands; and Cable One and Comcast Corp. in the USA. The company claims to have completed around 250 installations of its core TBMS product worldwide. It received a USD6 million investment package from venture capital company Schroder Ventures in 2000.
